Annette Funicello was 13 years old when she was discovered by the studio's head Walt Disney dancing in an amateur production of Swan Lake in Fullerton California. Much to the enmity among their Mickey Mouse Club co-stars, Funicello became a part of the cast in the series's debut season and was not needed to be auditioned for. Disney took the right choice and she soon gained prominence as The Mickey Mouse Club's highest performers, and she even had her own Adventures in Dairyland storyline. Funicello eventually became accustomed to recording and enjoyed working with Camerata, one of the rare arrangers in their 40s that knew the basics of rock's early days.
