The athlete earned international recognition and admiration when she gave the world one of its greatest moments in the history of sports when she scored the first ever perfect ten in asymmetric bars during the Montreal Olympic Games in 1976. Adding to this her score, she added six more perfect tens, and was the most youthful Olympic gold medalist. Nadia Comaneci has not only been the focus of attention everywhere however she also assisted Romania in gaining a place on the map of international recognition. A sports legend came into the spotlight after securing an unprecedented score, thus creating a legend and popularizing gymnastics as a game throughout the globe. Women's perception of athletes was also altered by her performances. It was because of the impact she had in the Olympics, that both the moves toe-on (toes on) as well as the release movement are named after her. These two moves have been regarded, to this day, as challenging. Apart from the Olympics her performance also included outstanding performance in both the World Championships & European Championships. As a result, she became a legendary gymnast and one of best-known athletes the globe has ever witnessed.
